2018年6月30日より、西日本の地域活性化をめざして山陽新幹線にて運転開始されたのが、「500系 ハローキティ新幹線」で、博多―新大阪間を1日1往復します。
実車の1号車は「HELLO！PLAZA」となり、西日本の各地を期間限定で紹介していくほか、ショップや映像コーナーなどのスペースがあります。
2号車は「KAWAII!ROOM」として、座席やカーテンなどが特別にデザインされているほか、「ハローキティ」と一緒に記念撮影ができるフォトスポットもあります。最小走行半径はR195となります。

【Product features and usage, etc.】
On June 30, 2018, the "500 Type Hello Kitty Shinkansen" started operation on the Sanyo Shinkansen, intending to revitalize the region of western Japan and make one round trip a day between Hakata and Shin-Osaka.
The first car of the actual car will be "HELLO! PLAZA", which will introduce various parts of western Japan for a limited time, and there will be spaces such as shops and video corners.
Car 2 is "KAWAII! ROOM" with specially designed seats and curtains, and there is also a photo spot where you can take a commemorative photo with "Hello Kitty." The minimum mileage is R195.
